Mains, battery or solar energiser: which should I choose?

A mains energiser suits a fence that runs near a power supply. Battery units work anywhere and suit temporary paddocks and strip grazing. Solar energisers keep a battery topped up for remote fields. Rutland makes all three, plus dual-power units that run on mains or battery.

Why is my electric fence not working?

The usual causes are poor earthing, vegetation touching the line, a broken connection or a flat battery. A fence tester or the Rutland Fence Doctor fault finder helps you find where the voltage is dropping.

Do you sell insulators for metal posts?

Yes. We stock ring insulators for metal posts as well as wood-screw, nail-on, offset and pigtail insulators.
