Feeding Guidelines: Amount of feed for puppies Fresh Drinking water should be available at all times. Pups need a total of 30 - 50g per kg of bodyweight per day. This total is to be divided into a number of daily feeds. Very young puppies need 4 or 5 feeds a day. From 4 months on this can be reduced to 2 or 3 feeds a day. When the pup reaches maturity 1 meal per day is ample. e.g. 3kg dog at 3 months old: 3 x 40g = 120g. Give 4 x 30g feeds per day Puppies may be weaned on to this food from 3 - 4 weeks of age. For this first feeding, the kibbles should be soaked thoroughly in luke warm water. Puppies are the best judge of their own needs. Feed to their condition and appetite, having regard to other factors such as breed, level of activity etc. As a general rule enough feed is that which is eaten within about five minutes.
